First Data Installs Two T-DAR Mantrap Shield Systems
to Meet Required Security Increase in Their Panama
Card Issuing Center
PANAMA CITY, PANAMA - When First Data Corp., a global leader in electronic commerce and payment services and their partner, Banco General, S.A., were planning the recently completed expansion of their major card issuing center in Panama City, Panama, they called upon Newton Security Inc. to supply and commission a pair of T-DAR Mantrap Shield anti-tailgating and anti-piggybacking detection systems for two new high-security airlocks.
Beginning January 2014, this and other card centers must comply with strict new requirements for physical security issued by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards group. Version 3.0 of the PCI Data Security Standard mandates tighter controls on physical access to sensitive onsite areas by staff and vendors, specifically calling for mantraps and interlocking doors.
T-DAR Mantrap Shield software and hardware is installed in conjunction with hardware and software of other new or existing security systems to create a secured space between two or more electronically controlled interlocking doors. The T-DAR system is a combination of stereo vision and sophisticated Newton software with the ability to identify, tag and track the human form within the mantrap, insuring that there is only one person present, while ignoring carts, luggage or parcels. Tailgating and piggybacking attempts are blocked by the automatic scanning of the mantrap to ensure that only one person is in the area before the first door is locked followed by unlocking the door into the secure area for that transit only.
In addition to other data centers in the U.S., Central America, and Britain, Newton Security T-DAR systems are deployed around the world to control and track access into restricted areas in many different venues such as airports, government buildings, research laboratories, financial institutions, power stations, manufacturing plants and unmanned immigration sites.
